With the river levels increasing on a yearly basis, it seems there is some struggle with gaining river access around the UK, with many crews confined to the clubhouses because of the swollen rivers.
The NWSC has only lost one weekend this autumn/winter period because of flooding, in theory and with our team constantly monitoring the course, that won’t happen again with our preventative measures. Also this was the first closure for many years due to uncontrollable river levels.
There are now no events taking exclusive use of the course from now until the March/April period and an ideal time to use the regatta lake for training. We can put up racks for storage and we have a trailer park on-site, as long as we are made aware in advance to allow – through the winter – crews to leave boats on the site to utilise the course more.
Throughout this period on Weekends and also Wednesdays (for students), we will allow all users access to the course at 50% off for a launch fee – so only £5.50 per day, rather than £11.

The National Competition Committee (NCC) is currently looking for several volunteer members to join the new project group to deliver phase 2 of the Competition Framework review following phase 1’s implementation of the ranking index and BROE2.
The NCC is looking for members of the group across the geographic of rowing particularly Coaches of all Sectors (Junior, Senior, Masters, University), Competition Organisers and Competitors.
If involved, members of the group will be expected to commit to undertaking specific tasks relating to areas of the project as it develops although much of the analysis work will be undertaken by British Rowing staff.
The NCC is looking for members of the group across the geographic of rowing particularly Coaches of all Sectors (Junior, Senior, Masters, University), Competition Organisers and Competitors.
The work of the group will mainly be during normal office hours. Most meetings will be held via google meets/ hangouts or conference calls. There will be face-to-face meetings which may be held during office hours, weekday evenings, or on Saturdays or Sundays. Meetings will be held at British Rowing HQ in Hammersmith.
Regatta London is a challenge row along the river Thames. All eights, coxed fours and coxed quads are welcome to enter – fine or stable shells. The row will cover 14 miles along the Thames from BR HQ, Hammersmith, to the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich and being joined by paddle boarders, kayakers and canoeists from Putney.
Regatta London will take place on Sunday 29th September 2019
The regatta is being held as a way to present the sport of rowing in a whole new way to those outside of the sport. The event will also be a chance to fundraise for one of many great causes, you can view some of the charities on the Regatta London site.

Last weekend, 20-22 July, saw the annual British Rowing Junior Championships take place at the NWSC in Nottingham where the region was well represented. Over the weekend, juniors took part in a range of skills sessions and side-by-side racing depending on their age and boat type.
